U.S. Department of Transportation unveils new $60-million grant for green transit projects

Secretary Ray LaHood announced that 27 projects will receive a combined $59.3 million to help transit agencies purchase and support cleaner buses that reduce harmful emissions, improve fuel economy and save on operating costs while also delivering a more comfortable, reliable ride for passengers. The types of initiatives selected to receive funding include replacing aging diesel buses with new CNG vehicles and building new fueling stations to accommodate these vehicles.
